recent inactivity
I must apologize greatly for my recent inactivity as admin of the group.

I've kind of stepped away from night photography for a while because my real life is getting a little too busy. I had a summer job and was taking a summer class in Physics 2, and now college has started back up. It can take several hours a day to keep the group going, which I can't give right now. I'm really sorry about all of this, I know how much this group means to some of you.

There are two options that I'm looking into:

1.
The first option is that supposedly DA is going to start having support for groups so I'm holding out until then before I do too much with the group. I've heard that group support might begin to be implemented in September, if group support is added then I'll be able to continue to operate the community.

2.
The other option is that if group support on DA falls though and doesn't happen then I'll look to try and find someone to take over the group. If this happens then I'll ask people who would be interested in taking over for the group to send me a note detailing what they can do for the group. Then these write-ups would be compiled and listed in a journal entry, as part of a election similar to the voting that was done when deciding weather or not Sunset photography was to be included.

Again, I'm greatly sorry for the inactivity as well as leaving everyone in the dark without an explanation.

Welcome

Welcome to the night photography club. A club celebrating all things relating to photography at night, astrophotography, light painting, and techniques generally associated with night photograph.

While others may put away their cameras when the sun comes down we realize that there is a whole other world of photographic opportunities that await the patient night photographer.

If you’re the type of photographer that readily enjoys taking pictures at night or just beginning to experiment with this type of photography. This group is for you.

This will soon have deviations by other members of DA relating to night photography. Eventually there will also hopefully be some tutorials.

If you like this group and the concept that it represents please feel free to make a link to it in your journals.

*Chatroom*
We now have a chat room at #NightPhotography feel free to check it out, could be a good way to chat with other members about how to do different tecniques.

All members of the group have been made members of the chatroom. Although if you find yourself as just a guest in the chatroom, the permissions are set to alow you to make yourself a member of the chatroom.

*Joining*

If you would like to join all you have to do is send a note to ~nightphotography with the words join in the subject line. You’re also encouraged to submit any work of your own that has to do with night photography.

*Submitting*

For submitting work relating to night photography just send a note with submit in the subject line with a link to your work. The work must be related to photography at night, astrophotography, light painting, and techniques generally associated with night photograph.

New rule (as of 2-16-05) please try to limit the number of submissions per day to 2. It will make things easier if submissions are limited to 2 per day per person. If you would like to submit more you may submit another 2 the next day and so on.

Also please try to avoid submitting multiple deviations that are similar, unless the deviations are varied enough to give a different meaning.

New addition (as of 3-31-05) Submitted work must also be of an acceptable quality. The may be challenged in a peacefull and respectfull manner in the form of an note to the group. If there is any descreption about weather a certain piece of work is of an acceptable quality or not, a vote will be announced here in the group journal and the members will be free to vote on a decision. To keep things as anonymous as possible without needing a subscription to use a poll, members will be asked to submit their votes in a note to the group.

Things are generaly very lax here so something like this will probably be very rare. So don't let this discourage any of you from submitting your work.

If anyone has any questions about this or suggestions, or complaints please feel free to send a note to the group.

*Favoriting works*
Do not, I repeat DO NOT favorite any works here on this group account, it will be wasted effort, be sure to follow the link provided in the deviation description to the original deviation under the accound of the creator of the work, and favorite that work instead.



There was a vote about weather or not to include sunset/sunrise photography, because of the results of the vote we do not include this type of photography in the group.

Because the line is kindof fuzzy, members where asked to vote on weather or not we should include Sunset photography as a part of night photography.

This vote ended Friday April 29th.

The final tally of the votes is as follows:

no - 16
yes - 3

So it has been decided by a mojority of the members that voted, that we should not include sunset photography. Although I will provide a link the ~sunsets photography group so that people will know where to go if they would like to submit their works, since sunset phtography has some similarities to night photography.
